There's Another Steven Avery Special On The Way

More information about the Steven Avery case is headed to your TV screen.

Since the release of Netflix documentary "Making a Murderer," the story of Avery, the Wisconsin man who was freed on DNA evidence in 2003 after serving time for a 1985 rape conviction, only to be charged with the murder of Auto Trader magazine photographer Teresa Halbach just years after his release, has returned to the cultural forefront.

Now, Investigation Discovery has announced "Front Page: The Steven Avery Story," a special that will explore details of the case left unexplored by the 10-hour series.

"Following our investigation, we expect that 'Front Page: The Steven Avery Story' will present crucial testimony and information that addresses many of the questions surrounding Steven Avery," Henry Schleiff, group president of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel and Destination America, said in a statement.

Since "Making a Murderer" debuted on Netflix, the case has received a huge wave of new attention, with some critics claiming the documentary left out key information incriminating Avery. The film has spawned responses from lawyers involved in both the original prosecution and defense of the case; widespread petitions calling for the pardon of Avery and nephew Brendan Dassey, who was also convicted in relation to Halbach's murder, from prison; and Reddit threads where viewers flock to discuss potential answers to the case's lingering questions.

The Investigation Discovery special is expected to air later this month.
