Facebook Displaying Vertical Videos in Mobile News Feed

Facebook has begun displaying vertical videos in News Feed in its flagship mobile application.

Tim Peterson of Marketing Land reported on the update, and a spokesperson for the social network told him via email that its tests found that users watched vertical videos for longer time periods and with audio when they were presented vertically in News Feed, adding:

We know that people enjoy more immersive experiences on Facebook, so we're starting to display a larger portion of each vertical video in News Feed on mobile.

Prior to the change, vertical videos were cropped into squares in News Feed, and users had to click on the videos to watch them in their intended format.

Peterson reported that vertical videos will appear in a 2:3 aspect ratio in News Feed and not take up the entire screen unless users clock on those videos, and then click on the arrows in the upper-right-hand corner to expand them.

Country Queen Dolly Parton To Play A Prostitute In New Made-For-TV Biopic

This is the best early Christmas present we've ever received. 

On Tuesday night, during her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Dolly Parton confirmed that she will play a prostitute in her second made-for-TV biopic, “Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.” (The flick will be a sequel to Parton's 2015 film, “Coat of Many Colors.”)

“When I was little, I patterned my look after the town trollop,” the country queen told Fallon (who jokingly replied, “Me too!”). “I thought she was the most beautiful thing, because she had all this makeup, hair, tight clothes and everything I wanted ... So I thought, why not play the painted lady?”

Parton has told this story before, and even one-upped the tale during an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” She revealed she was once mistaken for a prostitute when she and her friend came to New York City in the late '60s. They were staying in a cheap hotel near Times Square. 

“That's where all the prostitutes run, and they ran in pairs for safety,” Parton told Letterman. “And we looked like we might be them. I still had the big hair, looking trashy like I do.”

“We were just country girls,” she said, “and our daddies had given us both a gun when we left home ... I said, 'Look, if you touch me one more time, I'm gonna shoot you.'”

Justin Timberlake And Jessica Biel Took Over A Photobooth With Hillary Clinton

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel hosted a fundraising luncheon for Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, and it looks like everyone had a ball. The event, which was held at the TimberBiel's Los Angeles home, also included a photobooth.

According to Variety, Leonardo DiCaprio was originally supposed to throw the swanky affair, but had to back out because of a project. Biel and Timberlake stepped up to hold the party, where guests attended for a measly $33,400 per person. 

Clinton reportedly also blessed Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Aniston, Shonda Rhimes and Tobey Maguire with her presence at the luncheon. We'll be waiting on their photobooth pics to see if they top the ones above.
